What
is the church of Christ?
The
churches of Christ Greet You (Romans 16:16)
The church is the Kingdom of God. It is made up of people who have
responded to
Christ's call to come out of sin and live under the rule of God.
The church is the Body of
Christ. Christ is
still serving and saving people today
through His body, the church.
The church is the Temple of
the Holy
Spirit. The Holy
Spirit
speaks to us through God's Word, leads us to faith, repentance and
baptism. After we are born again, the Spirit lives in us.
He gives
us spiritual strength to resist temptation, and He slowly changes us
into the
likeness of Christ.
The church is a Worshiping
Community. We meet
together every week to worship God in
spirit and in truth.
The church is the Family of
God. God is our
Father, Christ is our older brother,
and we are brothers and sisters who love and encourage each other.
The church is a Royal
Priesthood. Every
Christian, male and female, is a holy
priest of the King and is responsible for offering spiritual sacrifices
and
bringing people to God by telling them the Good News about Christ.
The church is the Bride of
Christ. Christ
loved the church and gave Himself for
her. He made her pure and holy in the waters of baptism, and He will
take her
to Himself in perfect love for all eternity.
