Introduction:

 

A positive duty of the Christian

is to follow a course in his or her behavior and relationship with others

that will make for and maintain peace.

 

Peter said: 1 Peter 3:11

Jesus said: Matthew 5:9

The wise person is peaceable: Proverbs 20:3; 18:6

Peace vs. Strife: Galatians 5:19-22

Strife is evidence of a carnal spirit: 1 Corinthians 3:3

Unity is a pleasant thing: Psalms 133:1

Sowing of discord is an abominable thing: Proverbs 6:16-19

God is a God of Peace: 1 Corinthians 14:33

Contention: Proverbs 26:21

Vengeance: Romans 12:19

A Self-willed Spirit: Titus 1:7; 1 Peter 5:3

An Unholy Ambition for Power and Preeminence: 3 John 9

Bitterness, Wrath, and Anger: Ephesians 4:31; Proverbs 29:22; 16:32; Eph. 4:26

Foolish and Ignorant Questions: 2 Timothy 2:23

Corrupt Speech: Eph. 4:29; James 1:19; Prov. 16:28; 26:20; 15:1; Eph. 4:31; 1 Tim. 6:4-5

An Unselfish Spirit: Genesis 13:7-11; Philippians 2:4

The Practice of the Golden Rule: Matthew 7:12

Returning Good for Evil: Romans 12:20

A Spirit Easy to be Entreated: James 3:17

A Forgiving Spirit: Colossians 3:13; Matthew 6:12; Heb. 10:17

A Longsuffering Spirit: Colossians 3:12
